The McCain ad An excellent response to the lipstick on a pig controversy…

Go here and click on “Web Ad: Lipstick”.

[It was on the McCain site and it was on YouTube but has been pulled due to the fact that CBS objected to it’s use of Katie Couric.]

Of course he Obama meant the double entendre.  He just hasn’t the guts to own up to it.

Sarah Palin’s Business Card…

I picked this up while in the Yukon...
I picked this up while in the Yukon…

A few Sarah Palin facts:  There I was fighting the dozen or so bandits who had tried to jump my claim on White Agony Creek and with nowhere else to turn, I pulled Sarah’s card from my breast pocket…

A few days later, no more bandits.

Irony upon irony is the backdrop for Our Girl Sarah’s entrée onto the world stage.  In a year when no Democrat could possible lose, we have an elite Harvard educated, community organizing, white guy running as a black sophisticate purportedly sporting a deep understanding of and empathy for blue-collar working class Americans while promising fundamental, non-partisan changes to government and Washington joined at the hip with the quintessential Washington insider running as the New New Thang.

On the other side we have the quintessential Washington old hand/maverick, wrinkled white guy that is certainly honest and certainly deserving for a lifetime of selfless service to what should be a grateful country that has all but ignored him up until a few months ago now coupled with a scorch-gorgeous crisp williwaw of an Alaskan Barracuda.

Irony:  Obama slaps at Palin for first supporting the Bridge to Nowhere and then not supporting the Bridge To Nowhere.  So she gets hit for coming to the correct position by someone who voted twice for the wrong position.

Irony:  Obama tells everyone that attacks on families by any of his staff will be a firing offense.  Howard Gutmann, Obama campaign finance committee member, slaps at Palin on the Laura Ingraham show, “If my daughter had just come home at 17 years old and said, ‘Mom, Dad, I’m pregnant, we have a family problem,’ I wouldn’t say, ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to take this private family problem…and you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to go on the international stage and broadcast this to the world.’”  We’re still waiting on the press release detailing his firing.

Irony:  Obama grouses hourly that any complaint about him is merely the politics of personal destruction.  Meanwhile, as mentioned in the Wall Street Journal, “Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and Mrs. Palin’s hometown of Wasilla to dig into her record and background. My sources report the first wave arrived in Anchorage less than 24 hours after John McCain selected her on August 29. ”

Irony:  Obama tries to talk a little trash, i.e., “lipstick on a pig…” with Palin the basketball player.  He is so clever.

Irony:  Feminists downplay or just plain hate Palin probably because she has a loving man at home, doesn’t abort, and doesn’t drop them off at daycare at nine weeks of age in pursuit of her career.

Irony:  The personification of vacuousness, i.e., leftist, pc-crazed blog pimps, without an inkling of the irony, paint Palin as vacuous.

Irony:  Obama tries to attack Palin on her lack of experience (10 years of aggressive, rough-and-tumble Alaskan politics ending in ascent to the governor’s office and one of the highest approval ratings).

Old Goldwater Cons like me can find a lot to dislike about McCain’s policy preferences but Palin is not one of them.  She makes me smile.  When was the last time I could say that?  1980.
